Dumbbell Storage Shelf

I have a Monster Lite Cave rack system and wanted to find a dumbbell shelf that would fit between the central uprights (43" spacing). The problem is that most shelf designs are either made for double upright mount, or aren't 43" wide. I came across these from Crandall and gave it a shot. I ordered on a Thursday and all three shipped the very next day; Unbelieveable! They arrived the following Tuesday, were well packaged, and arrived with no damage.

Upon opening and inspection, there were a few very minor scuffs here and there, but nothing egregious. The welds look solid and the powder coat looks good. It's not as black as Rogue, but it blends well enough. The shelf itself is 42" wide and the attachable side brackets make up the remainder of the 43".

Here are my critiques:
(1) I'm not a fan of the white logo right in the middle of the shelf. It gets covered up mostly by the dumbbells, but just not my thing. I like the way Rogue laser cuts their name in the metal so that it isn't as obvious.
(2) The side brackets attach to the shelf with fasteners. The screws are a good size smaller than the holes which allow for some width adjustment to ensure the shelf mounts properly. This is okay, but the hex button head screws stick up on the top of the shelf and can interfere with how the dumbbells sit. Some don't sit on top of the screws while others can. It would be nice if they could find a way to use hex countersink screws so that the top surface remains flat all the way across. Or, maybe use a PEMS nut on the bottom of the shelf and run a screw w/ lock washer coming up from the bottom through the bracket. Then there wouldn't be a hole or fasteners in the top of the shelf. IDK, food for thought...
(3) The 5/8" fastener hardware is similar to Rogue's. The difference is that Rogue uses a bolt, fender washer, lock washer, nut. Crandall sends a bolt, two standard washers, and a lock nut. The lock nut stinks because you can't finger tighten it before you need to use tools. You immediately need to use tools and it takes more effort than is needed. It would be ideal if they just sent the same type hardware that Rogue uses. Plus, it would match and appear standard across the rack.

Overall, I would buy these again and would recommend them to others. I think these fill a void that Rogue has left open and good on Crandall for coming up with a nice, working design.
